Lancaster County is undeniably the most well-known location to experience Amish culture in Pennsylvania. But many tourists don’t know there’s a strong presence of Amish and Pennsylvania Dutch folk that live beyond Lancaster, in neighboring counties like York, Chester, and Berks.If you’re interested in exploring an Amish county tour on the other side of the bridge, this guide should help you plan your round trip from Lancaster to York. Follow this route in sequential order if you’re looking to hit all of the locations in a single day trip!
1). Central Market York

And it’s a nice starting point to learn a bit about the community in York, PA!
2). Miller Plant Farm
430 Indian Rock Dam RoadYork, PA 17403Hours: Monday - Friday: 9 AM - 6 PM | Saturday: 9 AM - 4 PMLocal farmlands are a large part of Amish county tours, and Miller Plant Farm has played a key role in providing high-quality crop transplants to commercial farmers since 1928. It’s one of York, PA’s oldest farm and garden centers. What started as a small business with a single greenhouse and 35 acres of land has flourished into a fifth-generation farm, with 30 greenhouses and over 200 acres of land. Today, they serve the commercial and home gardener with 95% home-grown plant varieties that are best-suited for growth in the region. In 2024, they were named the “Best Garden Center/Nursery in York/Hanover, PA,” so definitely make a stop if you have an interest in agriculture and family-owned businesses.
3). Perrydelle Farm
90 Indian Rock Dam RoadYork, PA 17403Hours: Monday - Saturday: 7 AM - 8 PM | Sunday: 11 AM - 6 PMPerrydelle Farm and Dairy is a family-owned and operated business that sits on over 170 acres of farmland. Since 1963, they’ve dedicated themselves to providing the freshest dairy products for their community. While milk (whole, 2% and skim) and homemade ice cream are their specialty, guests can also purchase yogurt, butter, cream, and a variety of locally-made PA Dutch and Amish baked goods from their farm store.Be sure to try a self-guided tour through the bottling plant to see how their milk is gathered, processed, and bottled onsite.
4). The Markets At Shrewsbury

It’s home to over 19 different local merchants, selling everything from Amish produce, meats, and desserts to traditional PA Dutch eateries, canned goods, and other specialty crafts. Most merchant stands are run by local Amish or PA Dutch families, so while there may be a smaller variety of shopping here than York’s Central Market, The Markets at Shrewsbury offers a more authentic Amish county tour experience.
5). Penn Dutch Structures

They sell an expansive range of products, from large outdoor structures like sheds, detached garages, and barns to smaller entertainment structures like gazebos, lawn furniture, and garden accents. Even if you have no interest in buying anything, Penn Dutch Structures is a great place to visit to admire the detail and quality that Amish furniture is known for.
